A Real Window Card!

Well the day finally came when I got to use that acetate/plastic cover from the embossing folder I bought eons ago. I'm so glad I saved it because this card was done on the spur of the moment as a thank you card for my condo buildings manager who okayed us for receiving a balcony window - no charge! So appropriate don't yea think?

The card was made by "welding" two matching svg tags (well, one had the windows, the other didn't, but the same shape) out of DP and cutting it with the Cricut. Added a little DP with a butterfly on it, sparkled it up, cut the acetate to shape, and glued it on with some Glossy Accents. Easy breezy.
I was glad the acetate didn't have any scratches or stickers on it.....I'll remember to watch for that when I buy more embossing folders etc, otherwise the stuff just wouldn't very nice in the card. The glossy accents wasn't invisable thru the acetate, but close enough for my likings.

Aloha

Aloha! This digi stamp was colored with Prisma pencils. K&Company DP with a little Tim Holtz Lipstick and scattered straw inks. I'm still debating whether to ink up the trim a bit....the intent is for it to look like a hola skirt.
Actually I see I forgot the flowers....so tomorrow I'll do some editing!

Here she is with her flowers!

Criss Cross Card

I think this would look a little better when using a square card rather than the 5x6.5, but I still liked the way it turned out. It's what I had so it's what I used. I first saw this card done on Norma's blog.... http://frommycraftroom.blogspot.com   ..she makes such beautiful cards. I'm always in such awh. The tutorial and the challenge I've entered is here: http://toptiptuesday.blogspot.com/2011/06/ttt-39-cross-it-challenge.html The great thing about this type of card is that you could also leave the 2 sides unglued so that they open rather than the pocket type as I did here I used  K&Company SW Nature  DP for the entire card. A cricut butterfly, cut twice for dimension, embossed, glittered and gemmed. A small ceramic flower. And some Tim Holtz' scattered straw, peeled paint and wild honey around the edges as well as some masking of the insert with a computer generated sentiment. Yellow glitter all round, here and there. And finally a satin ribbon.

More for Dad

A couple more for Dad's, thought the card would double as a bookmark - stamped, inked and used some glossy accents to fill in the windows for some 3d effect.

Mini Baby Calendar Book

This is my second Baby book. Made for a friend who's due in August. What I had forgotten about is that half of 2011 is almost over already. But I had already glued in the calendar for the first half of the year. So I had to improvise a little and hide the "2011" with a little ducky. The days will be off, but it's really the date that's important when logging in that special moment. I'll remember that for the next one I do and download next years calendar!

T!m Tag

I know this isn't very original. I waited weeks for Michaels 50% off coupon to come in so I could run and get the Old Jalopy Die. Neither of my Michaels had it, so I picked up the clear stamp set "The Journey" instead. (I was not going to waste that coupon!! ; ) So if that radom generator picker picks my entry this week, I'll be ordering that Die over the internet from Simon! But I'm not disappointed....I love this set. With this tag I just went stamp crazy and stamped everything from the set on it...except for the big "ticket" that came with it. I also used T!m's distress inks for everything, some copper perfect pearls here and there, and ebony embossing powders on the trucks!

Entered in Simon Says Stamp and show a Tag challenge:

BBQ

I won this stamp so I thought I might honour it by pushing the envolope a little. So with my cricut and my software program I got to work. I started with a font I liked for the "BBQ".  Flipped it and welded it to get it into the shape of a card. Then repeated it and 'shadowed' it in pink cardstock. If you like the stamp you can find it in one of my older posts for it's weblink. I used distress inks to paint in the image. An idea I got from the Simon says Stamp blog: http://simonsaysstampblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/watercoloring-with-hero-arts.html
I have often used the technique for patching up missed spots on the stamp, but never thought to paint with it. I suppose, with a little more practice, I might just get it looking more and more like copic markers.
The only real clitch I had was that the stamp had to cover up the middle parts of the BB in BBQ. So the whole idea may have been lost.....???

Bird cage

For this easel card I used some svg cuts for the cage, the post and the little kitten. Embossed with gold for the sentiment, a couple pretty little porcelan flowers, and a ribbon to tie it all together. I had a sheet of design paper that I never seem to reach for, but I had always liked the birds that were on it. So one got cut out and used here.

I won!

I'm a winner....first time too. Today, just before our Postal service went on strike, I received my new stamp.....pheeewww, that was a close one! I think I'll go with lots of pink.....afterall, girls can BBQ too!! I'll update when I can get back to my crafttable.

Here's their awesome website and a photo of my new stamp:

Favourite stamp

I know it may seem like my favourite thing to use is a doily lately, I've made quite a few cards with them. They are well received so I'm happy to oblige. But my most favourite stamp to use is this bird and floral stamp. I haven't been card crafting too long, so picking a favourite stamp for this weeks Simon Says Stamp challenge, was pretty easy.
